Related works

  • Chinard first sculpted a bust of Juliette Récamier shorlty after 1796 and was exhibited in a French salon between 1799 and 1803. By 1812, there were at least two marble versions. A visitor had seen an other marble in 1806 in Chinard's italian studio.
The marble of the Lyon, musée des Beaux-Arts (no. acc. Inv. B 871) is the only one to be accepted as a work by the artist's hand.
There are also several plaster busts and two terracotta busts, on at Wildenstein and Company in New York and the other at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
