- Metz Collection website, April 14, 2014:
Born in Sommevoire, Drouot studied in Paris under Emile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau, working as both a genre painter and sculptor. He was awarded a medal at the Salon of 1892 and an honorable mention at the Universal Exposition of 1900. A variety of themes and a remarkable sense of movement characterize Drouot's body of work. Considered an outstanding member of the sculpture community at the end of the nineteenth century, Drouot’s Salon entries encompassed sporting and hunting scenes, exotic Eastern subjects, mythological figures, nymphs, and whimsical allegories.
