Comment

  • Museum's information, April 2013:
A ferocious-looking, striding wolf walks bares its teeth. This unique cast is fastened to a black marble plinth bearing a plaque inscribed: To his friend Rousseau / His admirer A. L. Barye.
Since the 1840s, Barye had been a friend of Théodore Rousseau (1812-67), the landscape specialist who was regarded as the leader of the Barbizon school of painters.
